Team Member Biographies

Metropolitan Capital Bank

Michael P. Rose is chairman, CEO and one of the founders of Metropolitan Capital Bancorp, Inc.. In 2000, Mr. Rose was a principal and helped found the Lexecon Strategy Group, a subsidiary of Lexecon. Leading the firm's financial services practice, he focused primarily on the cross-selling of financial services. Lexecon is an economic and litigation consulting firm founded by a group of professors at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business and School of Law. He was formerly the Acting Executive Director (CEO) of the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Mr. Rose served previously as the Authority's Staff Attorney, Legislative Liaison, General Counsel, Chief Development Officer and Deputy Executive Director. Mr. Rose received a B.S. in Economics with Highest Distinction from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. He has been a member of the Chicago Club for the past seven years, where he currently sits on the Membership Commission. He also sits on the University of Illinois Real Estate Alumni Forum Board of Directors. Mr. Rose maintains his state of Illinois bar membership.

Frank P. Novel, President, has more than 40 years of banking and regulatory experience. Prior to joining Metropolitan Capital Bank, Mr. Novel was Chief Operating Officer of Bridgeview Bank and spent six years as a bank examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He has been the past president of three different banks: the State Bank of Lombard, Security Bank of DuPage and Pan American Bank. He also held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Edgemark Financial Corporation and Chief Operating Officer at Bridgeview Bank Group. Mr. Novel is a past director of the Lombard and Naperville Chambers of Commerce and a past member of their Rotary Clubs and he recently ended his duties as Treasurer of the Village of Winfield. He is currently a member of the Union League of Chicago serving on various committees. Mr. Novel holds a B.S. in Economics through Purdue University and a degree from the American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.

Richard C. Keneman, Chief Lending Officer, has more than 40 years of banking industry experience. Previously he was the Chief Lending Officer, Bank Director and Chairman of the Loan Committee at Cole Taylor Bank where he developed their wealth management offering. At Metropolitan Capital Bank, Mr. Keneman has been the Senior Leader in Sales, Sales Management and Relationship Management. He is skilled in the areas of lending, relationship building, sales, general bank management and networking. He served as a Director and Member of the Board of Ambassadors of OMNI Youth Services and was a former Director of the Skokie Educational Foundation and currently serves as a Director of the Grant Park Orchestral Association. Mr. Keneman is a member of the Skokie Country Club, where he enjoys playing golf. He is a long-time resident of Winnetka where he lives with his wife, Ayn, a Professor at National Louis University, and his two daughters, Margaret and Ellie. Mr. Keneman earned his B.S. in Finance and Marketing from Florida State University.

Jerry L. Frump, Manager of Bank Operations, has more than thirty 37 years of financial experience. He is responsible for both the Deposit and Loan Operations at the Bank. Mr. Frump is a member of the Compliance Committee and ALCO Committee. As the president of two different banks for a combined 16 years, he has extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of operations and lending. Prior to his positions as a bank president, he held numerous operational and lending management positions with three other banks. He also was the past president of his local Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. Mr. Frump is a Deacon and a Trustee of the Naperville Christian Church. He is an avid sports enthusiast and officiates both college football and high school basketball games. Mr. Frump, a Naperville resident, lives with his wife Patty, the Director of Women's Care Ministry at Naperville Christian Church. Mr. Frump received his Associates Degree from Illinois Commercial College.

Ellen Rogin, CPA, CFP®, Director of Financial Planning, Marketing and Strategy, has more than 20 years experience in the financial services industry. She works with the Bank's employees in training and development. Mrs. Rogin presents educational workshops, seminars and programs to Metropolitan Capital Bank clients and prospective clients. She is also a member of the Bank's Board of Directors. She is Founder and President of Strategic Financial Designs Inc., a wealth management firm in Northfield, IL. Mrs. Rogin is a nationally-recognized expert in financial planning whose opinion is frequently quoted in various publications. She is also a presenter and published author of Great with Money: The Women's Guide to Prosperity, a book about transforming your relationship with money. Mrs. Rogin earned her B.A. in Economics from Newcomb College, Tulane University and received her MBA, with a concentration in Accounting from New York University.

Daniel Doering, Cashier, has twenty years of experience in the banking industry. He is primarily responsible for Deposit Operations at the Bank. Mr. Doering is also the Metropolitan Capital Bank Deposit Compliance Officer, BSA Officer and Security Officer. Most recently, he was Assistant Cashier and Security Officer at The PrivateBank & Trust. He was also VP of Operations at Water Town Bank, Financial Center EVP at Citibank and Assistant VP/Branch Manger at Suburban Bank and Trust. Mr. Doering graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a B.A. in Communications.

Matthew W. Hankins, Vice President of Business Development, has eight years of experience in the financial services industry. In addition to his responsibilities as VP of Business Development, Mr. Hankins also assists with Corporate Strategy and Development acting as an in-house strategy consultant to guide growth, development, and business relationships. Previously he served as a Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at JPMorgan Chase. Prior to JPMorgan Chase, Mr. Hankins was a Consultant within Accenture's Strategy and Business Architecture practice. Outside of Metropolitan Capital Bank, he enjoys water & snow skiing, cycling, and traveling. Mr. Hankins holds a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan.

Molly C. Michalak, Private Capital Manager, has been with Metropolitan Capital Bank since 2004. She also directs marketing and event planning as the public relations liaison and supports the Bank's Art Works Chicago program. As Internet Banking Coordinator, Ms. Michalak oversees the Metropolitan Capital Bank website. Previously, she held various positions at The John Buck Company, Capital H Group, Film and Tape Works Inc. and Dome Communications. Ms. Michalak is currently a member of the University Club of Chicago and on the Junior Red Kettle Advisory Committee for the Salvation Army Chicago Metropolitan Division. She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Computational Mathematics from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.

Brandon Molaski, Operations Group Manager, has more than four years experience in the banking industry. Mr. Molaski is primarily focused on loan operations but is also the Assistant Compliance and CRA Officer for the Bank. Prior to joining Metropolitan Capital, Mr. Molaski held positions at Countrywide Home Loans, Finansure and National City Bank. He graduated from Western Michigan University with a B.A. of Business Administration in Finance.

Alexander B. Penning, Private Capital Manager, additionally focuses on creating business development tools and strategies for Metropolitan Capital Bank. He previously held positions at Unum Corporation and Jenner & Block LLP. Mr. Penning was one of the founding members and currently serves on the auxiliary board of the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, the Society for Urban Nature. Outside of Metropolitan Capital Bank, he devotes his time to serving the community through volunteering and also enjoys snow skiing. Mr. Penning graduated from DePauw University where he received a B.A. in Economics.

Brittani R. Campbell, Private Capital Manager, additionally assists with the human resources and public relations functions at Metropolitan Capital Bank. She previously held positions at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw, LLP and Euro RSCG Chicago. Outside of the Bank she enjoys travel, live music, reading and the Chicago Cubs. Ms. Campbell graduated with honors with a B.A. in Business and a minor in Spanish from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Brandon Moulton, Private Capital Manager, was previously a Management Assistant at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Benjamin A. Neill, Business Process Manager, primarily focuses on loan operations for the Bank. Previously was an intern with the Cook County Public Defender's Office. Mr. Neill also held an internship within the Chambers of the Honorable William Bedsworth. Outside of Metropolitan Capital Bank, Mr. Neill enjoys golf, baseball, soccer, hiking, fishing and biking. He received a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Arizona and a J.D. from the John Marshall Law School.

Neil C. Solomon, Business Process Manager, works within the Bank's loan operations and also assists with the accounting functions of the Bank. Previously he was an analyst at Quarry Point Partners. Michael F. Finn, Business Process Manager, works mainly with Loan Operations at Metropolitan Capital Bank. Before joining the bank, he worked as a Graduate Assistant at Southern Illinois University and held an internship with the Accounting Department at the corporate headquarters for McDonalds. He enjoys the great outdoors and is an avid Chicago White Sox fan. Mr. Finn graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale with a B.S. in Accounting and received his Masters in Accountancy from Southern Illinois University as well.

Jake Gantz, Business Process Manager, works in loan operations for Metropolitan Capital Bank. Previously, he was the Coordinator for the Communications Department at Equity Residential. Justyna M. Kucinska, Business Process Manager, works within the loan operations group at Metropolitan Capital Bank. Ms. Kucinska has four years of industry experience between her time as a Bank Teller with Bank of America and as a Financial Representative at First Bank in Mt. Prospect. Karolina Koziec, Deposit Operations Manager, performs cash-involved transactions and manages the accounts payable and statement generation functions for the Bank. Ms. Koziec also assists with customer service related issues and transactions. Before joining the bank, she worked as a Teller/Sales Associate with TCF Bank and held an internship in the Financial Advising Group with Smith Barney Morgan Stanley. She is involved with both the UIC Investment Society and the UIC Alumni Society. Ms. Koziec received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Scott J. Clifton, Private Capital Manager, previously held an internship as an Analyst with The PrivateBank. Before that, Mr. Clifton was a Teller with First Miami Credit Union in Miami, Ohio. Scott A. Cohen, Private Capital Manager, held internships with both Morgan Stanley SmithBarney and Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. before joining the Metropolitan Capital Bank team in July 2010.
